What to Expect

How should I dress?

You will find that the community at Chambers is comfortable dressing in many different ways. You will find some  people dressed in jeans and T-shirts, while others wear their Sunday best, and everything in between. We welcome you to dress in the way that is most comfortable for you.

Where should I park and how should I enter the building?

Please park in the church parking lot, which you can enter from Sylvan Ave.  If the parking lot is full, you are welcome to park along  Sylvan or President Avenue.  You may enter the church either up the ramp to the main entrance or through the door from the parking lot.  As you enter the sanctuary, ushers will greet you and help you find anything you need.

What is the worship service like?

We have a traditional Protestant style of worship, with a few twists.  Most weeks, the worship service goes like this: The pastor starts with a welcome for everyone who is there, followed by announcements.  Then we prepare to worship with quiet music.  In the first part of worship, we prepare ourselves to listen for God’s word, with a hymn and a prayer of confession.  Then we listen for God’s word together in different ways, with a children’s sermon, scripture readings and sermon.  Finally, we respond to God’s word with our offerings, our prayers and more singing. One the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate communion, where all believers are welcome at Christ’s table. Following worship, most people stay for coffee (or tea) and conversation in the church library, which is on the same level as the sanctuary.

Are there classes for my children during worship?

Children usually stay with their parents in the sanctuary through the children’s sermon.  Following the children’s sermon, they may go to our one-room Sunday school.  They are also welcome to stay with you during worship.  Worship activity bags are available for children – ask an usher to help you find one.
